Cetti River to Sella Bay Boonie Stomp – Saturday, June 27 – Difficult 4+ hours for 3.6 mile hike down the Cetti River to Cetti Bay and then along the coastline to Sella Bay before hiking up the hillside to complete this loop hike. Special conditions: Hiking in water, down a steep slope, and hiking up a slope.

Be safe: Always tell some where you are going and when to expect your return  

Stomp tip: Eat a good breakfast before the hike. 

Always bring plenty of water on a hike.  

 

Every Saturday, the Department of Parks and Recreation and Guam Boonie Stompers offers public hikes to a variety of destinations such as beaches, snorkeling sites, waterfalls, mountains, caves, latte sites, and World War II sites. We meet at 9:00 AM in the Center Court of Chamorro Village in Hagatna. The cost is $2.00 for hikers over 12. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Hikers should provide their own transportation. Guam’s trails are not developed. Weather conditions can make the hikes more difficult than described.  For information:  653-2897,  davelotz@ite.net,

We head to a coastline and World War II sites!

Ylig to Tagachang Bonnie Stomp – Saturday, July 4 – Medium 3 hrs 2 mile stomp to explore the headlands, beaches, and reefs of eastern Guam at Yona. Bring: 2 quarts water, hiking boots, water shoes, swimsuit, gloves, insect repellent, sun screen, sunglasses, lunch, and camera. Special conditions: Walking in water, a short stretch of rough rocks, and possible surf.

Invasion Route and Tony’s Falls - July 11, Saturday - Difficult 4 hrs/1.3 mile stomp retracing the 21 July route of the U.S. Third Marine Division from Asan to the heights above and end up cooling off at a nearby waterfall. Bring: 3 quarts water, hiking boots, gloves, swim suit, sun screen, sunglasses, insect repellent, lunch, and camera. Special conditions: Swordgrass and steep slopes.

Liberation – Saturday, July 18 – Easy 3+ hr for 2.5 mile stomp traveling to several sites for short walks to historic features for the Liberation of Guam in July 1944. Bring: 2 quarts water, hiking boots, gloves, sun screen, sunglasses, insect repellent, lunch, and camera. Special conditions: Short climbs and possible mud, slippery slopes, and swordgrass at Mount Alifan.

Tinta, Faha, & Priest’s Pools – Saturday, July 25 – Easy 3+ hrs for 1.5 mile hike to the Merizo Massacre Sites of World War II and then cool off in the freshwater pools of the Pigua River. Bring: 2 quarts water, hiking boots, gloves, swim suit, sun screen, sunglasses, incest repellent, lunch, and camera. Special condition: mud.
